The Seoul Hanbang Promotion Center in Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung), located in the Seoul Yakryeongsi, a special district for the Korean medicine industry, will resume the operation of the ‘Herbal Foot Bath Experience’ from March 1 to bring the energy of spring to the residents.

The ‘Herbal Foot Bath Experience’ is a wellness program conducted in a beautiful Hanok pavilion that won the Presidential Award in the architecture category. Participants soak their feet in a foot bath made of cypress wood, infused with seasonally beneficial medicinal herbs, providing a healing time. ‘Happiness for 10,000 Won’ is an event where visitors can enjoy the Seoul Hanbang Promotion Center’s representative programs at a discounted price. The four programs available at a 45% discounted price of 10,000 Won include the resumed ‘Herbal Foot Bath Experience,’ ‘Boje-won Hanbang Experience,’ a visit to the ‘Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum’ full of information about Korean medicine, and ‘Herbal Tea Tasting’ at the Hanbang cafe.

Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center Resumes 'Herbal Foot Bath' Yonggeummak Festival Held Last Year

Yongsan-gu Selected for Local Commercial District Revitalization Projects

Two projects selected by Seoul City, securing subsidies of 192.5 million Won

Yongmun Market’s 2nd Yonggeummaek Festival... Utilizing know-how from previous festivals

Creation of Haebang-gil in Sinheung Market, Yongshin Haebang Festival... Collaboration with Haebangchon commercial district

Yongsan-gu has been selected for the ‘2023 Local Commercial District Revitalization Projects’ hosted by Seoul City and will receive a total subsidy of 192.5 million Won.

Yongsan Yongmun Market and Sinheung Market were each selected.

Yongsan Yongmun Market plans to present a richer festival by solidifying the foundation of last year’s Yonggeummaek Festival.

The Yonggeummaek Festival was held five times every Friday from September 23 to October 21 last year as part of the Cultural Tourism Market Development Project. The project team estimated a cumulative customer inflow of 16,600 people.

This year, under the theme ‘Yonggeummaek Festival Once Again,’ the festival will be held eight times between June and October. Based on the know-how accumulated last year, the plan is to supplement any shortcomings and strengthen the festival’s substance.

Sinheung Market will create Haebang-gil in the market and the Haebangchon area and hold the Yongshin Haebang Festival in June. The cultural event is planned to transform the market from a simple food-centered market into one with enjoyable attractions.

The Yongshin Haebang Festival will be held in the form of a traditional play ritual celebrating ‘the day Yongshin is liberated and ascends to the sky,’ praying for everyone’s peace.

Additionally, Sinheung Market will provide various attractions and entertainment in collaboration with surrounding stores, including operating a music cafe on the Haebangchon rooftop and hosting flea markets.

Kim Seon-su, Acting Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “Traditional markets and surrounding merchants are joining hands to promote various events,” and added, “I hope the projects will be successful and bring vitality not only to the traditional markets but also to the entire commercial district.”
