According to the county on the 28th, construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of this year with the goal of completing the 2nd Sports Town, covering an area of 8.8 hectares in the Pyeonghwal-ri area of Samsan-myeon, by December next year.
The 2nd Sports Town will be developed with one full-sized soccer field, one baseball field, one multipurpose field, and auxiliary facilities.
While a large-scale sports town has been successfully operated within Useul Sports Park, the 2nd Sports Town is being promoted to revitalize sports marketing, which continues to see increasing demand.
In particular, the 2nd Sports Town will be located near Samsan-myeon, where lodging and restaurants are concentrated, about five minutes away from Daeheungsa Temple and nearby accommodations, expected to contribute not only to the activation of the commercial district during the winter season but also to tourism revitalization in connection with the Minam Festival.
In the 2021-2022 Jeollanam-do Sports Marketing evaluation, Haenam-gun was selected as the best county in Jeollanam-do by attracting approximately 98,000 athletes for training camps.
County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan said, “We are accelerating the construction of the 2nd Sports Town to meet the growing demand for recreational sports and sports marketing,” adding, “Once the project is completed, it is expected to play a significant role in revitalizing the local economy due to the increased visits of athletes to Haenam.”
