Yeosu City Launches Integrity Challenge Campaign for Senior Public Officials

Over 50 Participants in City Hall Meeting Room... Accelerating Efforts to Achieve Top Integrity Grade

Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it held the ‘High-ranking Public Officials Integrity Challenge’ campaign at the city hall conference room on the 24th.

On this day, about 50 high-ranking public officials including Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong, the deputy mayor, and heads of bureaus and divisions participated, holding placards with anti-corruption commitment messages. They strengthened their determination for integrity through Mayor Jeong’s pledge chant and the participants’ response.

Earlier, the city received a grade 3 in the 2022 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation of Public Institutions conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission in January. In response, this year, the city has established a comprehensive plan aiming to achieve a grade 1 in integrity and is accelerating the implementation of 35 policies.

This campaign was promoted as part of the comprehensive plan to improve integrity and was organized to encourage high-ranking public officials to take the lead in practicing integrity.

The city plans to conduct a relay campaign in which all 84 departments voluntarily participate, divided into three groups, to spread the spirit of integrity throughout the public service community.

Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu, said, “As all public officials participate in the campaign, they will engrave the meaning of integrity in their hearts and practice it in daily life,” adding, “We will carry out ‘anti-corruption integrity’ that is more trusted by citizens and empathized with by public officials.”
