KOSHA Energizes 'S Mark' Acquisition and Technology Transfer
9 Manufacturing Industries Seek Technology Transfer, Support Projects Under Review
The ‘A’-shaped ladder might soon disappear from work sites. An active ladder that meticulously ensures the safety of workers climbing it has been introduced. Finally, ‘safety’ has been equipped on ladders that previously required working under hazardous conditions.
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) announced on the 27th that the development of a platform workstand called the ‘K-Ladder’ has been completed.
The Industrial Safety and Health Research Institute of KOSHA has been conducting research to develop a product that can replace the A-shaped ladder to prevent fatal accidents during mobile ladder work. Last year, they completed the development of an active platform ladder specialized in safety.
The K-Ladder recently obtained the S Mark safety certification through evaluation by an accredited institution, verifying the product’s safety and reliability. It was also selected as an exemplary case of proactive government administration.
On the 24th, a meeting was held to gather opinions from domestic ladder manufacturers, attracting participation from more than 20 companies showing strong interest.
At the meeting, the developed K-Ladder product was unveiled to the industry for the first time, along with sharing the results of a survey on improving mobile ladder work and the research and development process.
During the process of collecting opinions on financial support and technology transfer of industrial property rights, nine companies expressed their intention to acquire the technology, indicating significant interest from manufacturers.
The research institute plans to also consider supporting the purchase cost of ladders and technology transfer through granting industrial property rights to promote the widespread adoption of the K-Ladder.
Moon Hyung-su, head of the Industrial Safety Research Office, said, “Many fatal accidents occur during mobile ladder work,” and added, “We will take the lead in promoting the widespread use of the K-Ladder to prevent fatal accidents.”
