'Traffic Safety Convex Mirror' Distribution, Driver Visibility Improved
Expected Effect in Preventing Student Traffic Accidents While Walking
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Acting Superintendent Choi Seong-bu) will provide ‘traffic safety reflectors’ to all 10,095 new elementary school students in the upcoming semester to prevent traffic accidents while walking.
The traffic safety reflectors, which are attached to bags and other items, are traffic safety products that help prevent traffic accidents involving students by making them easily visible to drivers and encouraging safe driving.
Since 2019, the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has been distributing traffic safety products to new elementary school students every year as part of a school commute safety enhancement project.
Since 2021, based on preference survey results, the traffic safety products have been provided in the form of traffic safety reflectors.
Every year, a parent satisfaction survey is also conducted to reflect improvements in the design. In last year’s satisfaction survey, parents showed high satisfaction with the effectiveness of traffic accident prevention at 92.7% and the necessity (hope for project continuation) at 94.9%.
An official from the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education stated, “Along with the distribution of traffic safety products, we will collaborate with local governments, the police agency, and other related organizations to develop various and highly effective projects in the areas of traffic safety guidance, education, and promotional activities.”
