Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 27th that it held the launch ceremony for the 3rd Incheon Airport Value Jump University Student Volunteer Group, an educational support program for vulnerable youth in the region such as multicultural families, on the 22nd at the Stella Hall of the Corporation's Talent Development Center.
About 100 people attended the event, including representatives from Incheon International Airport Corporation, the nonprofit organization Jump, local learning centers, and university student volunteers. Following the launch ceremony, an orientation was held to effectively proceed with the 3rd program, including preliminary training and design thinking education for the volunteer group's future activities.
Since 2020, the Corporation has been conducting the university student volunteer program "Incheon Airport Value Jump," which connects youth from multicultural families and North Korean defectors living in the Incheon and Gyeonggi areas with university student mentors.
Now in its third year, Incheon Airport Value Jump has involved a total of 194 university students in the first and second terms, providing educational volunteer services to 785 youths. Through this, it has created approximately 4 billion KRW in social value by reducing private education expenses for youth and instructor labor costs at local children's learning centers.
The 3rd group of university students, launched on this day, will visit educational welfare institutions such as local children's centers from March to December for 10 months to conduct offline mentoring for 400 vulnerable youth in the region.
In particular, during this activity period, the Corporation plans to newly introduce the "Value Jump LAB" program alongside existing mentoring to conduct a hackathon aimed at solving community issues. The Value Jump LAB program is a program where university students and youth form teams to identify and devise solutions together for problems such as improving the educational and living environments of multicultural youth.
The Corporation plans to enhance the effectiveness of this project by actively supporting selected outstanding teams to apply their solutions in the field through connections with local social enterprises. Additionally, starting from January, 100 university student mentors selected through document screening and interviews for the 3rd term will be provided with a modest activity scholarship and customized mentoring opportunities with Corporation employees.
