Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships, 2nd Progress Report Meeting Held

"Beyond a Global Festival City to a Global Sports City!"

Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 27th that it held the '2023 Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships Progress Report Meeting' on the 3rd floor cultural lecture room of City Hall, chaired by Mayor Cho Gyu-il, with 77 attendees including related organizations such as the Korea Weightlifting Federation, Jinju Sports Council, Jinju Weightlifting Federation, Jinju Cultural Tourism Foundation, and relevant department officials.


Held 68 days before the event, this report meeting included reports from department heads on issues and progress identified in the previous meeting, as well as discussions for proactive and meticulous preparations befitting Asia's top weightlifting competition.


Key points discussed included hosting various accompanying events such as culture, arts, and tourism during the competition period, providing clean and comfortable accommodations, offering high-quality and diverse food considerate of each country's culture, fast and convenient transportation, safe event operation, and multilingual interpretation services.


Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships, 2nd Progress Report Meeting Held Joo Kyu-il, mayor of Jinju, Gyeongnam, is holding the 2nd progress briefing session for the Jinju Asia Weightlifting Championships.

Mayor Cho said, “Please secure diverse interpreters to provide smooth interpretation services anytime and anywhere for athletes and officials visiting our city,” and added, “Please do your best to prepare various events that not only showcase Korean cultural events but also the cultures of each country.”


A representative of the Korea Weightlifting Federation expressed, “We deeply thank Mayor Cho and Jinju officials who are working hard to prepare for the competition,” and said, “The Korea Weightlifting Federation will also do its best until the end to help Jinju become a world-class weightlifting city.”


Jinju City plans to hold consecutive progress inspection meetings in March and April to ensure flawless preparation until the very end.


The organizing committee is recruiting volunteers to provide smooth interpretation services for overseas athletes and officials during the competition period. Volunteers for interpretation in Asian languages including English are being recruited, with the application period open until March 31.
