Incheon City announced on the 26th that it will also provide financial support for school uniform purchases to students entering middle and high schools or alternative schools in other regions.
The support targets first-year students who have their residence registered in Incheon as of the enrollment date, with up to 300,000 KRW per student provided for purchasing winter and summer uniforms as well as daily wear uniforms.
The city started the free school uniform support program nationwide for the first time in 2019, and from this year, it has decided to expand the support to middle and high school students entering schools in other cities and provinces.
The application period is from April 2 to April 28, and applications can be submitted on the Incheon City website. The eligibility and amount of the school uniform purchase support will be finalized and paid by the end of May.
An official from Incheon City stated, "With this program, all students will receive uniform support without anyone being left out," and added, "We hope this will ease the financial burden on parents who are experiencing economic difficulties, even if only a little."
