New Brother-in-law Murders Entire Family Out of Jealousy
"I Want to Clear Dad's Name, So I Started YouTube"
Popular YouTuber Ondoni-ssam, who has 190,000 subscribers, confessed that he is a bereaved family member of the victims of a family murder case. He also revealed that the reason he started YouTube is related to this incident.
On the 25th, Ondoni-ssam uploaded a video titled "The Real Reason I Started YouTube" on his YouTube channel "Exercise Order Otaku Ondoni-ssam." In the video, Ondoni-ssam stated, "I am a bereaved family member of the victims of the Yongin family murder case."
The Yongin family murder case occurred in October 2017, when Kim (then 34) killed his biological mother (then 55), half-sibling (then 14), and stepfather (then 57). Kim withdrew about 190 million won from his biological mother's bank account, took valuables, fled to New Zealand, and was later caught.
Ondoni-ssam explained, "When I was six years old, my father remarried, and I accepted my stepmother and stepbrother as family." The year Ondoni-ssam entered middle school, a half-sibling was born to his father and stepmother.
Ondoni-ssam revealed, "My stepbrother killed these three people. He killed his biological mother, stepfather, and sibling all within less than five hours." He continued, "The last image I have of my father is his tragic body, mutilated with a weapon in the trunk of a car," shedding tears as he said, "This scene comes to mind every day, and it is very painful."
Ondoni-ssam speculated that jealousy was the motive behind his stepbrother's crime. He said that while the stepbrother used to receive all the love from the stepmother, the attention and support shifted to the youngest sibling after their birth.
Ondoni-ssam said, "My stepbrother was an adult with a family, but he often asked my mother for money. However, since everything was going to the younger sibling, he got jealous and seems to have committed the murder." He added, "My father neither treated the stepbrother well nor badly, but I think he was killed together because the stepbrother was afraid he might report him."
Ondoni-ssam expressed, "The hardest and most regrettable thing until now is that my father passed away unjustly, cruelly, and tragically without warning, and I never had the time to fully grieve. I feel very sorry for my father."
He also said, "At the beginning of my YouTube career, I honestly thought, 'If I become famous and file a national petition to ensure proper punishment, maybe my father's injustice will be somewhat resolved.' But as my subscribers increased and I received thankful responses from people who said I helped them, that intention gradually disappeared."
Ondoni-ssam explained the reason for revealing this through the video, saying, "For the past six years, I have kept this pain inside without telling anyone, and it was about to burst." He added, "If you support and comfort me when I am struggling, I think I can get out of the long tunnel of depression a little faster. I will go to the hospital, take medicine, heal well, and come back soon," concluding the video.
Meanwhile, Ondoni-ssam's stepbrother Kim was sentenced to life imprisonment in the first and second trials in 2018, and the sentence was finalized after he did not appeal. Kim's wife, Jeong (then 32), who helped with the crime, was sentenced to eight years in prison for aiding and abetting.
