Jeonbuk Gochang-gun, Nationwide Youth Baseball Tournament Opens

The '2nd Gochang Pungcheon Eel Cup National Youth Baseball Tournament' opened on the 25th at the Sports Town Baseball Stadium in Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk.

This tournament features 47 teams and over 560 participants, including Namdong-gu BC Baseball Team, divided into two divisions: Yeonsik and Gyeongsik, and will continue until the 28th.

As a special performance at the opening ceremony, Shim Deok-seop, the governor of Gochang-gun, threw the first pitch, and Im Jeong-ho, chairman of the Gochang County Council, performed the first bat swing.

During the tournament, a total of approximately 3,380 participants are expected. The economic ripple effect is estimated to be about 200 million KRW.

The youth baseball tournament involves not only players but also their parents. During the first tournament last year, nearby shops were bustling, greatly contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

Shim Deok-seop, governor of Gochang-gun, stated, "We will do our best not only to participate in the games but also to link it with Gochang tourism to promote Gochang."
