Finding Business Connections and Planning Directions in Mobile, ICT, Mobility, Robotics, and AI
Workshops with Executives and Experts on Site
Park Ji-won, Vice Chairman of Doosan Group, which focuses on heavy industries and construction machinery, will attend the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the world's largest mobile exhibition, held in Barcelona, Spain, starting on the 27th. This is to understand the latest technology trends and explore future business directions. Doosan Group is strengthening new businesses such as robotics and semiconductors in addition to its existing businesses.
Vice Chairman Park paid attention to one of the MWC themes, 'Digital Everything.' He plans to examine the latest technologies developing based on faster connectivity in various fields such as robotics, mobility, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things, and seek connections with the group’s businesses. He is said to be very interested in applying digital technologies such as big data and device-to-device data transmission to traditional manufacturing sites.

MWC has recently expanded its scope to all fields based on communication technology. The participating industries are also increasing to include automobiles, the Internet of Things, robotics, semiconductors, and more. The MWC organizers stated that this year’s exhibition “covers various topics beyond the traditionally focused areas, including mobility and fintech.”
Vice Chairman Park has been dedicated to business advancement and discovering new growth engines as the chairman of the newly established ‘Sustainable Growth Innovation Committee’ last year. To this end, he has consistently visited major exhibitions such as CES, the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition in the U.S., and the Hannover Messe industrial fair in Germany. Workshops were also held locally.
This time as well, after touring the exhibition hall with the management team, he plans to hold workshops with strategic consulting experts on-site and discuss the implications identified at this exhibition together.
Doosan Group’s businesses already have significant intersections with MWC in many areas. Doosan Corporation’s Electronics BG manufactures high value-added materials applied to mobile devices and mobile communication equipment, and recently established a 5G antenna module line to expand product production.

Doosan Bobcat developed and introduced ‘MaxControl,’ the industry’s first construction equipment control system using smartphones. At last year’s CES, they attracted attention by demonstrating the operation of a compact track loader located 980 km away using 5G mobile communication.
Doosan Robotics partnered with SK Telecom to launch the 'AI Barista Robot' last month, applying AI and big data solutions.
Doosan Enerbility has achieved significant improvements in power plant reliability and efficiency by applying its self-developed digital solutions, such as the early warning solution for power plants called ‘PreVision,’ to domestic and overseas power plants.
Doosan Bobcat is developing autonomous driving software and radar sensors together with specialized companies to automate construction machinery and small equipment.
Recently, they also showcased an autonomous lawn mower product at an agricultural machinery exhibition in the U.S.
