Emergency Support of 200,000 Heat Packs for Displaced Persons in Turkey
Woori Financial Group's Woori Financial Future Foundation announced on the 26th that it has urgently provided 200,000 heat packs to help local disaster victims affected by the earthquake that occurred in Turkey on the 24th.
This support follows Woori Financial Group's donation of $300,000 on the 8th through the Korea NGO Council for Overseas Development Cooperation (KCOC) to assist earthquake victims in Turkey, and was decided considering the urgent need for cold-weather supplies locally.
After the initial earthquake, Turkey experienced a strong aftershock measuring 6.3 magnitude, causing continued damage. The disaster victims are struggling against the cold while moving between sleeping outdoors and temporary shelters. The Embassy of Turkey in Korea officially requested cold-weather supplies through social media (SNS).
In response, the Woori Financial Future Foundation delivered 200,000 easily portable and quickly distributable heat packs through the relief supply donation channel designated by the Embassy of Turkey in Korea to help the local disaster victims.
A representative of the Woori Financial Future Foundation said, "We hope this urgent support will help the Turkish disaster victims suffering from the earthquake," adding, "The Woori Financial Future Foundation, together with Woori Financial Group, will fulfill its role as a responsible global citizen by contributing to helping our brother nation suffering from the disaster."
