Free tax consultation related to business sites for small businesses and small merchants on the first Friday of every month
A consultation desk is set up in Seongsu-dong, where manufacturing and small merchants are concentrated, with up to 6 consultations per day
Seongdong-gu (District Mayor Jung Won-oh) offers free tax consultations on the first Friday of every month to help self-employed individuals and small merchants make a fresh start.
In recent years, small businesses and small merchants have faced difficulties such as sluggish sales due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession. In particular, tax issues are a burden for all businesses regardless of size, but small self-employed individuals tend to neglect tax matters due to the urgency of maintaining their livelihood, and sometimes have difficulty resolving tax-related problems.
Accordingly, Seongdong-gu has established a tax consultation desk for small merchants as part of management support for a fresh start in daily life recovery. Since about 25,000 businesses with fewer than 10 employees are located in Seongdong-gu, accounting for about 46% of all businesses concentrated in Seongsu-dong, the service is operated on the 2nd floor of the Seongdong Regional Economic Innovation Center in Seongsu-dong, which is convenient for small merchants to access.
The service operates once a month on the first Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., with consultations available on March 3. Those who wish to consult can make a reservation in advance by contacting the District Office’s Regional Economy Division, and up to 6 people can be consulted per day.
The main consultation topics include business-related tax issues such as comprehensive income tax, value-added tax, and business registration (closure), and any small businesses, self-employed individuals, or small merchants in the district can consult with professional tax accountants.
A district official said, “Small merchants have suffered greatly due to COVID-19, and we hope that management support projects such as tax consultations will serve as a stepping stone for small merchants to make a fresh start.”
