Request for Free Transfer of Additional Gyeongui Line Trains and Transfer Facilities
Including Extension of Line 3 Express and Line 9 Express
Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it requested the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee to directly connect the Goyang Eunpyeong Line to the Western Line and to increase and add trains on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line heading to Seoul Station as part of the city's metropolitan transportation improvement measures.

The city requested ▲support for a reasonable plan with Seoul City, which demands additional operating cost burdens related to the direct connection of the Goyang Eunpyeong Line to the Western Line ▲increasing and adding trains on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line heading to Seoul Station to alleviate congestion during commuting hours.
Additionally, the requests included ▲support for the prompt passage of the preliminary feasibility study for the extension project of the Shinbundang Line to the northwest ▲reflection of the extension projects of the Line 3 express and Line 9 express to Daegok in the 5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan to shorten commuting times between Goyang City and downtown Seoul to within 30 minutes ▲and the free transfer facility ownership near stations by housing development project operators.
The chairman of the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee stated, "We will proceed swiftly to ensure that the planned metropolitan transportation improvement measures are not delayed," and added, "We will continue to pay attention to the proposals for the convenience of Goyang citizens' transportation."
A city official said, "To build Goyang City's transportation infrastructure, we plan to request necessary matters not only to the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee but also to the central government and related agencies."
