Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that the Jinbo Youth Association, composed of young people from Jinbo-myeon, received great responses for the "Winter Vacation with Cheongsong UNESCO Global Geopark" program conducted for local children during the winter vacation.
The "Winter Vacation with Cheongsong UNESCO Global Geopark" program, held for seven weeks starting January 11, included various play-education activities such as exploring the Juwang Valley geological trail with a geopark guide, experiencing the Juwangsan volcanic eruption, making dinosaur footprint bracelets at Sinseong-ri, and baking Cheongsong apple scones. This provided local children with an easy and fun opportunity to learn about the Cheongsong UNESCO Global Geopark.
A child who participated in the program said, "I was amazed to learn for the first time that a volcano erupted in Cheongsong long ago and that dinosaurs also lived here," adding, "I want to join again next vacation and have fun with my friends."
Lee Gyu Kang, president of the Jinbo Youth Association, said, "I hope this became a meaningful and enjoyable winter vacation memory for the local children," and added, "We want to continue organizing various experiential education programs to give children better experiences."
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee expressed gratitude to the Jinbo Youth Association for their various activities for local residents, including this winter vacation program, saying, "We will do our best to help children nurture their dreams in Cheongsong."
