Water Torture as Revenge on Wife
Administering Psychiatric Drugs and Inflicting Burns
A public enterprise employee is on trial for causing the deaths of 17 poodles through water torture and other means as an outlet for anger toward his wife.
According to a JTBC report on the 23rd, the prosecution has requested the maximum sentence under the Animal Protection Act?three years in prison?for public enterprise employee Mr. A, who brutally killed 17 adopted poodles.
Early last year, when Mr. A's relationship with his wife deteriorated, he adopted poodles, the same breed as the dogs his wife was raising. He used his public enterprise status when approaching dog owners.
The case began when a dog owner who had adopted a dog to Mr. Yoo posted on social media that they could not contact him, leading to similar reports from other victims. Subsequently, an animal protection organization reported suspected animal abuse, and the police found the bodies of 12 dogs in the flowerbed of the apartment where Mr. Yoo lived.
The abuse was cruel. Mr. A forced water into the dogs and repeatedly revived those who fainted, ultimately causing their deaths. He also administered psychiatric medication and poured hot water on them, causing burns. Mr. A stated, "To relieve stress caused by conflicts with my wife, I deliberately killed only the poodles, the breed she was raising."
As suspicions from the dog owners who had adopted to Mr. A grew, he even created missing dog flyers and staged the incidents to appear accidental.
To one dog owner, Mr. A sent a text message saying, "The dog took the bus well, transferred to my car, and sat next to me, but then jumped out. I've been searching around the bus terminal for four hours, but the dog is black, so I can't see it. I've taken leave to keep looking until tomorrow. It all happened so suddenly that I have nothing to say. I'm sorry."
In addition to the 17 poodles confirmed in the indictment, it is understood that Mr. A adopted 10 more poodles.
