[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Once the Seohae Line opens, it is expected to take 74 minutes from Hongseong Station to Yeouido and 45 minutes to Yongsan Station.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that Vice Minister Eo Myeong-so visited the Seohae Line construction site on the 23rd to urge schedule management and construction site safety for timely opening. The Seohae Line is a double-track railway spanning 90.01 km from Hongseong in Chungnam to Hwaseong in Gyeonggi, extending to Songsan. With a total project cost of 4.0842 trillion KRW, construction is underway aiming for opening in June next year.
Upon completion of the Seohae Line, travel time from Hongseong Station to Yeouido is expected to be reduced from the current 130 minutes to 74 minutes by connecting with the Sinansan Line. When linked with the Gyeongbu High-Speed Line KTX, travel time from Hongseong Station to Yongsan Station will be shortened by 81 minutes, from 126 minutes to 45 minutes.
Vice Minister Eo stated, "Accessibility to the metropolitan area will be dramatically improved, and the Seohae Line will play a significant role in regional economic development." He added, "Hongseong Station is a key station for both the Janghang Line and the Seohae Line. With the opening of the Seohae Line, daily passengers are expected to increase more than sevenfold, from 2,000 to 15,000. Therefore, we will do our best to manage the schedule and improve user convenience."
