[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Booyoung Group's Woojung Education and Culture Foundation announced on the 23rd that it will provide approximately 330 million KRW in scholarships for the first semester of this year to 83 international students enrolled in domestic universities.

The Woojung Education and Culture Foundation was established in 2008 by Booyoung Group founder Chairman Lee Joong-geun, and since 2010, it has been awarding scholarships twice a year to international students from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions studying in Korea. To date, 2,283 students from 42 countries have received scholarship benefits totaling approximately 8.9 billion KRW.
Scholarship recipients are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, study attitude, achievement, financial need, and future plans for social contribution.
A foundation official stated, "We understand that international students are facing economic difficulties due to Korea's high cost of living," adding, "We hope the scholarships will help international students achieve their dreams."
Booyoung Group has been continuously engaged in social contribution activities across various fields both domestically and internationally. In addition to scholarship programs and donations of educational and cultural facilities, the group has contributed over 1 trillion KRW to society through efforts such as promoting accurate historical awareness, improving welfare for the elderly, supporting military units, providing rent-free daycare centers, and donating disaster relief funds.
