[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do will start a housing environment improvement project for vulnerable residents from next month.
According to the county on the 23rd, the housing environment improvement project for vulnerable residents, implemented for the first time this year, aims to improve old houses of disabled and elderly residents to provide a safe environment.
The support targets are low-income residents living in the county who are aged 65 or older, disabled, recipients of basic livelihood security, near-poverty class, or meet the criteria for permanent rental housing.
Support includes creating ramps on the high earthen floors of traditional buildings to prevent safety accidents, as well as replacing insulation windows and LED lights.
Installation of safety and convenience facilities at entrances, floors, and foyers is also possible.
The county plans to complete the selection of eligible recipients in towns and townships by the end of this month and start construction from next month, with the project expected to be completed around June.
A county official said, “We will carry out the project without delay so that residents living in poor housing conditions can live with peace of mind.”
