On the 22nd, the BNB Scholarship Foundation held a scholarship award ceremony at the Neulbit Lounge in Neulbit Hall of Inje University and awarded 1 million KRW per person to 10 Inje University students who graduated from Gaya High School.
Attending the scholarship award ceremony were Koo Kyung-yeol, Chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation; Kim Hwa-jung, former principal of Gaya High School and permanent advisor of the foundation; Seo Byung-sam, executive director of the foundation; Lee Beom-sik, director of Good Morning Clinic; Professor Jang Young-jae of Inje University; and Yoon Im-soo, section chief, along with mentors and scholarship recipients affiliated with Inje University and Gaya High School alumni.
The BNB Scholarship Foundation plans to operate a mentoring program connecting scholarship students at Inje University who wish to receive mentoring with senior experts in their desired fields after graduation.
Recently, the BNB Scholarship Foundation formed an alumni mentor group utilizing the Gaya High School alumni network to support university juniors' entry into society.
The mentor group, formed on the 9th, is led by Kim Chang-ryong, former Commissioner of the National Police Agency and a 29th class alumnus of Gaya High School. Participants include Koo Kyung-yeol, chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation; Woo Byung-hyun, CEO of Asia Economy; Kim Sang-yoon, CEO of BNK Venture Investment; Kang Sung-sik, former secretary general of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office; Park Min, editorial writer of Munhwa Ilbo; as well as experts from various fields, university professors, and staff.
Koo Kyung-yeol, chairman of the BNB Scholarship Foundation and a 26th class alumnus of Gaya High School, said, “I hope our juniors achieve their dreams with the warm hearts of their seniors and grow into talents essential to society. Since appropriate advice and support from senior mentors can maximize juniors' capabilities and reduce life’s trial and error, we will support their social advancement and adaptation to grow into proper members of society.”
Mentors and scholarship students affiliated with Inje University and Gaya High School alumni are taking a group commemorative photo after delivering the BNB Scholarship Foundation scholarship.
Lee Jung-eun, a third-year student in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Inje University who received the scholarship, said, “I used to think the high school alumni association was just about the older generation, but receiving this scholarship and hearing stories about wonderful seniors today made me proud of my high school. I will work even harder to become a senior who can pass on the warm hearts of my predecessors and help future juniors.”
Meanwhile, BNB Steel, located in Pohang, Gyeongbuk, is a stainless steel scrap distribution company that installed the first shredder equipment in Korea in 2003 to produce related products and is registered as an excellent stainless steel scrap partner of POSCO.
Additionally, as a non-profit corporation, the BNB Scholarship Foundation has expanded its support programs by providing scholarships to orphanages and university students in the Pohang area, and last year extended scholarships to Dongmyung University and Dong-Eui University, as well as mentoring projects for university students in the Busan area.
