Starbucks, Americano 2500 Won Promotion Sees 228% Increase in Sales

On the first day of Starbucks' promotion selling Americano for 2,500 won, sales volume increased more than threefold compared to usual.

According to Starbucks Korea on the 23rd, from 2 PM to 5 PM on the 22nd, the nationwide sales volume of Americano increased by 228% compared to the same period the previous day.

The total daily sales volume nearly doubled compared to the previous day's total daily sales. Americano is the best-selling product among Starbucks' entire menu, meaning it accounts for a large portion of overall sales.

Starbucks is selling a tall size Americano for 2,500 won from 2 PM to 5 PM for three days from the 22nd to the 24th. This is a consumer appreciation event celebrating reaching 10 million reward members. The price of 2,500 won is the same as when Starbucks opened its first store in Korea in 1999.

Starbucks stated that to avoid store congestion, the event was held during the relatively less busy hours of weekdays from 2 PM to 5 PM, and it was completed smoothly without major confusion. To prevent excessive orders, the number of drinks per receipt was limited to four, and participation through drive-thru was restricted due to potential traffic congestion around drive-thru stores.

A Starbucks representative said, “We prioritized the safety of consumers and partners and prepared extensively in advance by reflecting on the inconveniences of partners and consumers to minimize store confusion,” adding, “We will prepare to ensure the event proceeds smoothly until the last day.”
