Support for Overseas Tours, Festival Participation, and Album Production
Backing Online Performances and ICT-Music Content
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency announced on the 23rd that they will support six sectors of popular music this year. These include ▲ hosting overseas tours and participating in festivals ▲ producing popular music albums ▲ hosting space-planned performances ▲ producing hybrid music videos ▲ producing online popular music performances and videos ▲ and producing ICT-music content.
Support for hosting overseas tours and participating in festivals will resume after four years in line with the trend of revitalizing face-to-face performances. The targets are five musician teams scheduled for overseas tours and five musicians invited to overseas music festivals. The former will receive up to 50 million KRW, and the latter up to 10 million KRW. Support for producing popular music albums will be activated for the first time in five years. Up to ten selected projects will receive up to 40 million KRW each.
Support for hosting space-planned performances is a project that helps face-to-face performances based on creative planning capabilities. It is divided into large-scale and small-to-medium scale categories. The former will receive up to 70 million KRW, and the latter up to 40 million KRW. Support for producing hybrid music videos was newly established to revitalize popular music performances incorporating volumetric and motion capture technologies. Companies planning new music releases, face-to-face concerts, showcases, fan meetings, etc., within the year will receive production costs of 300 million KRW for equipment installation and operation.
The targets for support in online popular music performances and video production are new technology convergence performances linked with KOCCA Music Studio and next-generation music video content development. The former will receive up to 400 million KRW, and the latter up to 100 million KRW. Support for ICT-music content production is divided into planning/production and advancement/marketing. The support amounts are up to 200 million KRW and 300 million KRW, respectively. In addition, KOCCA promotes sustainable growth through MuseOn, the Seoul International Music Fair, and overseas showcases such as Korea Spotlight. For more details, please refer to the KOCCA website.
