On the 23rd, the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour announced that from December 4 to 10, a mixed team tournament will take place at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida. The tournament is named the Grant Thornton Invitational. A total of 32 players, 16 from the PGA Tour and 16 from the LPGA Tour, will compete for a prize purse of $4 million (approximately 5.2 billion KRW). Specific details such as the format of the competition are still under discussion.

Molly McArthur Seaman, LPGA Tour Commissioner, said, "Through mixed competitions where world-class male and female golfers compete side by side, we will provide golf fans with a memorable and enjoyable experience," adding, "This is an important advancement for golf, women's golf, and the LPGA Tour." Jay Monahan, PGA Tour Commissioner, stated, "With growing interest in golf, adding mixed events to the tournament schedule was a priority."

This will be the first time in 24 years since the JC Penney Classic, which started in 1960 and ended in 1999, that PGA and LPGA players form mixed teams to compete. Tony Finau (USA), who plays on the PGA Tour, welcomed the event, saying, "Having PGA Tour players compete alongside the best LPGA Tour players will be an amazing experience for fans."
