The Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters announced on the 23rd that starting with the Hwaseong Fire Station Paltan 119 Safety Center on the 24th, a total of 11 119 Safety Centers (with a total project cost of 40.1 billion KRW) will be completed this year.
The Paltan 119 Safety Center, covering an area of 999.7㎡, began construction in November 2021 with an investment of 3.1 billion KRW. The Paltan 119 Safety Center will promptly respond to surrounding disaster situations along with about 10,000 residents of Paltan-myeon.
The 119 Safety Centers to be completed this year include ▲ Suwon Fire Station Iui 119 Safety Center ▲ Yongin Fire Station Seongbok 119 Safety Center ▲ Pyeongtaek Fire Station Segyo 119 Safety Center ▲ Hwaseong Fire Station Songsan and Namyang 119 Safety Centers ▲ Songtan Fire Station Godeok 119 Safety Center ▲ Siheung Fire Station Wolgot 119 Safety Center ▲ Namyangju Fire Station Dasan 119 Safety Center ▲ Yeoju Fire Station Geumsa 119 Safety Center ▲ Yeoncheon Fire Station Gunnam 119 Safety Center.
In addition, the Construction Headquarters will also begin construction within the year on three 119 Safety Centers: ▲ Gimpo Fire Station Hakun 119 Safety Center ▲ Uijeongbu Fire Station Millak 119 Safety Center ▲ Ansan Fire Station Suam 119 Safety Center. The project cost for these three centers is 9.6 billion KRW.
To ensure solid construction of the 119 Safety Centers, the Construction Headquarters is actively utilizing technical advice from private experts such as engineers and university professors from the early design stages to improve the construction quality of public buildings. Furthermore, on-site construction includes regular safety inspections and monthly on-site communication days to resolve issues and difficulties encountered in the field.
Lee Sung-il, Director of the Architectural Facilities Division at the Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters, stated, "We are creating natural ecological spaces so that firefighters can rest sufficiently while preparing for dispatch," and added, "We will do our best to build 119 Safety Centers optimized for disaster response and energy self-sufficient to cope with climate change."
