Former Provincial Assembly Member Kwon Yugwan Announces Candidacy for Changnyeong County Governor

"I Will Become a Fair and Square County Governor"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Kwon Yoo-gwan, a former member of the Changnyeong County Council and a re-elected member of the Gyeongnam Provincial Assembly, announced his candidacy for the Changnyeong County Governor by-election on April 5.

On the 22nd, candidate Kwon held a press conference and appealed for support, saying, "I will become a clean and fair county governor who communicates with the residents without using any illegal or underhanded tactics."

He continued, "To make Changnyeong prosperous, I will become a sales-oriented county governor who actively attracts excellent companies and secures national and provincial funds," adding, "As a hands-on county governor who finds answers on the ground, I will open the era of a 100,000 population in Changnyeong."

Regarding concerns about the risk of population extinction, candidate Kwon said, "We must discover good policies and plans and properly implement them," introducing, "During my 9th term as a provincial assembly member, I persistently pushed for the construction of local road No. 1022, resolving a long-standing wish of the residents."

He then announced pledges including ▲early confirmation of the Changwon Industrial Line railway construction connecting Daehap Industrial Complex and Changwon ▲construction of public rental housing for newlyweds and low-income families ▲expansion and creation of park golf courses for elderly welfare, population inflow, and commercial district formation.

When asked whether he would run regardless of the People Power Party's nomination, Kwon replied, "I will follow the party's decision."

Regarding the question on how to resolve the chronic problem of tens of billions of residents' tax money being wasted on by-election costs due to successive county governors' falls, he said, "I was mentally devastated by the sudden bad news. The slogan of a fair and clean county governor is to eliminate the phenomenon of overheated, dirty elections and vote-buying in Changnyeong. If there is vote-buying, the governor must recover their investment, so how can proper county administration be carried out? We must first eliminate the noise around civil servant promotions, permits, and construction orders. If promotions are bought with money, wouldn't they have to recover their investment? That is why I pledge to become a fair and clean county governor."
