Inspection for Foreign Substances and Spoilage, Salmonella, and Pesticide Residue
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute will conduct inspections on eggs produced by laying hen farms in the Ulsan area for one month starting from the 22nd.
The inspection will cover foreign substances, spoilage, and decay, as well as tests for Salmonella bacteria and residues (77 types of pesticides and antibiotics).
Eggs found to be non-compliant will be strictly managed to prevent them from being supplied for consumption. If the Salmonella bacteria test, which causes food poisoning, is non-compliant, the relevant district or county will be notified for management. If residue levels exceed the allowable standards, the farm will be designated as a residue-violating farm and continuously monitored.
An official from the Health and Environment Research Institute stated, “We will do our best to ensure the safety of livestock products by conducting proactive inspections of eggs before picnics and outings begin in earnest.”
In the 268 egg inspections conducted by the Health and Environment Research Institute last year, all items were found to be ‘compliant.’
