[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 22nd that it will hold the ‘2023 F/W (Fall/Winter) Seoul Fashion Week,’ showcasing the 2023 fall and winter fashion trends, for five days from the 15th to the 19th of next month.

This Seoul Fashion Week will be held as a 100% on-site fashion show and will also be broadcast live through the official Seoul Fashion Week YouTube online channel, allowing any general public interested in fashion to watch in real time.

Seoul Fashion Week to be Held Next Month... Global Ambassadors 'NewJeans'

The global ambassador for the 2023 Seoul Fashion Week is the group ‘NewJeans,’ who entered the US Billboard ‘Hot 100’ chart just six months after their debut and hold two ‘million-seller’ albums. The promotional video featuring Seoul Fashion Week ambassador ‘NewJeans’ will be unveiled for the first time on the Seoul Fashion Week YouTube channel on the 25th.

This ‘2023 F/W Seoul Fashion Week’ will be operated through three main events: ▲ fashion shows by 30 designer brands, the largest domestic trade show with over 130 overseas buyers from 27 countries participating, and various citizen participation programs combining fashion and innovative technology.

Meanwhile, to lower the barrier to Seoul Fashion Week fashion shows and expand citizen engagement, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold a citizen invitation event for the Seoul Fashion Week fashion shows from the 23rd until the 6th of next month. Anyone wishing to attend the fashion shows can select their desired show and apply within the application period through the Seoul Fashion Week website, and invitation letters will be sent to the winners starting from the 7th of next month.

Kim Taekyun, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Economic Policy Office, said, “As we have passed through the COVID tunnel, the competitiveness and business environment of small and medium fashion manufacturers have continuously weakened, deepening polarization in the fashion industry.” He added, “We will make Seoul Fashion Week a gateway for our competitive designers to advance overseas and a hub to strengthen the competitiveness of K-fashion. We will increase purchases by major buyers, nurture promising designers, and enhance citizen participation to broaden the base of the fashion industry.”
