Healing Classes for Moms
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Seoul Library announced on the 22nd that it will operate the 'Healing Picture Book Journey for Moms and Children' from March 17 to April 14.
This course is planned as a healing lecture where moms can rest and be happy with their children, as part of Seoul City's ‘Mom and Dad Happiness Project’.
The course proceeds by reading selected picture books together each session. Sessions 1 to 3 are ‘Mom Healing’ time, a picture book therapy process for self-reflection and healing, and sessions 4 to 5 are ‘Picture Book Play Method’ time, a course teaching educational methods to play with children using picture books.
The instructor, Ji-hyun Lee, is a drama therapist at the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service and has conducted picture book parenting and healing courses at many schools and institutions.
Applications for the 'Healing Picture Book Journey for Moms and Children' course can be made from the 24th of this month to the 13th of next month via ‘Seoul Library website → Application & Participation → Program Application’. Any mom with children aged 6 to 9 can participate for free, and 50 participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For inquiries about the program, contact Seoul Library.
Ji-eun Oh, Director of Seoul Library, encouraged participation, saying, “Picture books have the power to create emotional bonds and heal pain, so I hope this will be a gift-like time for caregivers exhausted from parenting,” and added, “Seoul Library will actively support a happy Seoul for moms and children.”
