[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint safety inspection with large-scale development district site operators and experts from the 27th of this month to the 15th of next month to prevent safety accidents during the thawing season.
The inspection targets a total of 27 sites, including seven housing development districts such as Pyeongtaek Godeok Internationalization District where land development construction is underway, and 20 public housing districts including Suwon Dangsujigu.
The main inspection items are ▲whether ground subsidence and cracks have occurred at construction sites and surrounding areas ▲slope instability such as collapse in cut and fill sections ▲installation of safety facilities to prevent accidents such as falls and drops ▲checking for subsidence, cracks, and potholes on roads and sidewalks ▲and confirming inconveniences and complaints from nearby residents caused by construction work.
The province plans to take immediate emergency measures for any parts where safety accidents are likely to occur based on the inspection results and to devise and implement improvement plans.
Yoon Sung-jin, head of the Provincial Urban Regeneration Promotion Team, said, "This year, due to the continuous cold wave, the risk of safety accidents during the thawing season is greater than ever," adding, "We will conduct thorough inspections of disaster-vulnerable facilities within development districts to prevent safety accidents and human casualties."
