Jangseong-gun Expands Coverage Items for Citizen Safety Insurance

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do has expanded the coverage items of the Citizen Safety Insurance this year.

According to the county on the 21st, the Citizen Safety Insurance is a system that pays insurance benefits to citizens who suffer damage from unpredictable disasters, accidents, and safety incidents.

All residents of Jangseong-gun are automatically enrolled as beneficiaries, and registered foreigners can receive the same benefits. The insurance premium is fully covered by the county.

The county has expanded the coverage items every year since its first implementation in 2019.

This year, three items were added to the existing 14 coverages: death from social disasters, death from acute infectious diseases, and emergency room treatment expenses for dog bite accidents.

The existing coverage items include ▲explosion, fire, collapse ▲use of public transportation ▲hit-and-run, uninsured vehicle ▲robbery ▲injury death and aftereffects related to agricultural machinery accidents ▲death from natural disasters such as heatstroke and sunstroke ▲drowning ▲treatment expenses for injuries from traffic accidents in school zones and silver zones.

Depending on the item, compensation can be up to 20 million KRW, and overlapping compensation is possible even if insured under other policies.

Insurance claims must be filed directly by the injured person or their family to the insurance company corresponding to the coverage item within 3 years from the date of the accident.

The county is enrolled in 15 items with the Korea Local Finance Association and 2 items with DB Insurance.
