Yoon Promises Government Support for Space Economy, "Infinite Opportunities"... [Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] On the 21st, President Yoon Seok-yeol held a meeting with over 40 individuals including entrepreneurs, researchers, and students leading the space economy. President Yoon promised government support for the future space industry.


On the same day, President Yoon visited the Yongsan Presidential Office during the day to view developments in the space industry sector and had a conversation with them. This event was organized to encourage talents pioneering South Korea's space industry regardless of age or field, including space startup entrepreneurs, new researchers from public institutions, scholarship recipients from space competitions, and members of space clubs.

President Yoon stated, "The space economy will open infinite opportunities," expressing the government's commitment to supporting the space industry. He explained, "Space economy includes all activities that create value related to space exploration and utilization, launch vehicle and satellite development, manufacturing, launch, and operation," and added, "The space industry contributes to the development of various advanced technologies and will provide a better life for humanity through improved communication, weather forecasting, and disaster management." Regarding the 'Space Aviation Agency,' which was a campaign pledge, he said, "We will make it a research and development platform centered on top experts," emphasizing, "I will embark on the journey to lead the space economy era together with you."


Attendees included startups in launch vehicle and satellite development, space exploration, space medicine, and satellite image utilization companies, as well as venture investment firms in the space sector. In addition to space majors, singer Younha, who has released albums themed on space and promotes space culture as an artist, also participated.


President Yoon exchanged opinions with the attendees on various ways to create the infinite value and potential of the future space economy. Entrepreneurs proposed specialized support measures for space startups, the prompt establishment of the Space Aviation Agency, and the construction of space testing infrastructure.


Before the meeting, President Yoon personally toured exhibits developed by space startups and winners of various competitions in the space field, including small launch vehicles, microsatellites, satellite image analysis software, and lunar exploration rovers. At the meeting, Choi Narin, president of the National University Rocket Association (NURA), personally presented President Yoon with a membership certificate appointing him as an honorary member of NURA.
