Lee Jae-myung: "The person with a 42.8 billion won warrant never mentioned money... Attacking with excessive media play"

[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out on the 21st that the so-called '42.8 billion won that person' and other stories were not included in the arrest warrant, claiming, "You can see how much they have slandered me and attacked me as if I had taken illicit gains through unreasonable media play so far."

Lee said this during a meeting with reporters at the National Assembly on the same day, stating, "No matter how much you examine the warrant's contents, there is absolutely no mention of the so-called 42.8 billion won that person’s money that has been talked about."

So far, the prosecution has been investigating the suspicion of a '42.8 billion won contract' related to the actual owner of 'Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1'. Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management, has maintained the claim that all dividends from Cheonhwa Dongin No. 1 belong to him, so the related charges were not included in the warrant.

He said, "Someone who contributed that much, even the son of a person who gave a small help of 5 billion or 10 billion won received tens of billions, so if I had been involved in that case in an illicit way, there is no way I would have received not a single penny."

Meanwhile, the arrest consent bill for Lee was submitted to the National Assembly on the same day after receiving approval from President Yoon Seok-youl yesterday.
