[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Toyota Korea launched the crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) RAV4 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) on the 21st.
Toyota has released five generations of the RAV4 since the first-generation model was introduced in 1994. The RAV4 was first introduced in Korea in 2009. It features a design inspired by the Cross Octagon concept, driving stability and agile handling utilizing the TNGA platform. Last year, it accounted for about 40% of Toyota Korea's total sales, making it the brand's representative model.
The newly launched RAV4 PHEV was developed with the E-Booster concept. It is a PHEV model that enables both EV driving through battery charging and efficient gasoline driving using the latest hybrid technology.
The RAV4 PHEV is a model that satisfies both efficiency and driving pleasure. It features up to 63 km of EV driving based on combined driving mode, a system output of 306 horsepower, and powerful performance and refreshing acceleration with the E-Four (all-wheel drive) system.
In particular, the 'Toyota Connect' infotainment system was applied for the first time among Toyota models released in Korea. The product appeal has been enhanced with sporty yet detailed interior and exterior designs, four driving modes specialized for PHEV, and upgraded preventive safety features called 'Toyota Safety Sense.'
The RAV4 PHEV, sold in a single trim, is priced at 55.7 million KRW (individual consumption tax 3.5%). To commemorate this launch, Toyota Korea will hold test drive events for all models at Toyota dealer showrooms nationwide starting from the 26th of this month.
Kang Daehwan, Executive Director of Toyota Korea, said, "The RAV4 plug-in hybrid is a model that can solve concerns about efficiency, practicality, and electric vehicle charging, making it suitable not only for daily life but also for customers who enjoy long-distance outdoor activities."
