[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The National Rehabilitation Center announced on the 21st that it will hold an academic conference on the 22nd under the theme "Themed Health and Medical Statistics for Persons with Disabilities (2023: Focus on Persons with Developmental Disabilities)."
The "Health and Medical Statistics for Persons with Disabilities," designated as a national official statistic in August 2019 and now in its fourth year, is published every December to provide data for understanding the health status of registered persons with disabilities in Korea and to serve as a basis for establishing health promotion and medical policies for persons with disabilities.
This academic conference will be conducted in three parts based on the "Health and Medical Statistics for Persons with Disabilities" released last December: Part 1 will present the health levels and disparities between persons with and without disabilities; Part 2 will feature two presentations on health issues of persons with developmental disabilities; and Part 3 will be a comprehensive discussion.
Kang Yoon-gyu, Director of the National Rehabilitation Center, stated, "Health and Medical Statistics for Persons with Disabilities provide objective data showing the current status of health among persons with disabilities," adding, "We will continue to produce reliable, evidence-based data to accurately assess the health levels of persons with disabilities and to bridge the health gap with persons without disabilities."
