"Genesis US Golf Tournament Completed as an Event for Players, Caddies, and Fans"

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The 2023 Genesis Invitational, held at Riviera Country Club in California, USA, successfully concluded on the 19th (local time). The tournament, with the Genesis brand as the title sponsor for the seventh consecutive year, saw Jon Rahm (Spain), the winner, become the world No. 1.

The tournament featured 19 players ranked within the top 20 worldwide, including the previous world No. 1 and No. 2, Scottie Scheffler (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland). Rahm won with a final total of 17-under-par 267, edging out second-place Max Homa by two strokes. Rahm received a winner's prize of $3.6 million and a locally produced GV70 electric model.

The event attracted significant attention both inside and outside the course even before it began. Tiger Woods, the tournament host, chose this event as his comeback tournament for the season. Weekend tickets sold out. This tournament is one of the 17 designated premium events by the PGA Tour, with the total prize money increased to $20 million. When designated as a premium event, the total prize money rises to $15 million, $20 million, or $25 million.

For the first time among tournaments sponsored by the Genesis brand, hole-in-one prizes were offered for both players and caddies on two holes. The provision of barber and physical therapy services in a caddie-only lounge also drew attention.

For spectators, a public lounge near the 14th hole distributed beverages and Korean-style desserts such as yakgwa. Genesis customers were given free admission tickets to a private suite behind the 14th hole, allowing them to watch the players' performances up close.

For this tournament, the company supported about 240 vehicles, including the GV60 and GV70 electric models. Nineteen vehicles, including the GV70 electric model, were displayed at key points within the course, leaving a strong impression on both spectators and global TV viewers.

Before the tournament, Genesis's local branch collaborated with the TGR Foundation, where Tiger Woods is involved, to sponsor educational programs for local community students. Song Min-gyu, head of Genesis's business division, said, "Thanks to the world's top players and passionate galleries, this year's tournament was successfully completed, strengthening our status as a global luxury brand."
