Park Jumin: "No Defections... Rejection Is Not 'Bulletproof'"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Park Ju-min, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, clarified regarding the arrest motion for Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party leader, saying, "(Rejection) There will be no dissenting votes," and explained that the Democratic Party's participation in the rejection is not 'shielding.'

On the 21st, on MBC's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Park said, "In my surroundings, I do not sense such a trend or atmosphere (for approval), so I believe there will be no dissenting votes, and even if there are, they will be very few."

President Yoon Seok-yeol approved the request for Lee's arrest earlier that morning. The National Assembly is expected to report in the plenary session on the 24th and hold a vote on the 27th. The People Power Party issued a notice demanding full attendance at the plenary sessions on the 24th and 27th, and the Justice Party has also stated its intention to vote in favor of the arrest motion. If only the Democratic Party votes against, it could further solidify the 'shielding' frame.

Regarding this, Park said, "While the prosecution's investigation is indeed conducted in accordance with fairness, common sense, and truth-finding, there are also politically biased, partial, and non-independent investigations. I felt that way even after reviewing the warrant this time, but I do not feel that the investigation is being properly conducted now. Therefore, naturally, we must cast rejection votes, and simply labeling this as shielding is, in my opinion, inappropriate."
