Hapcheon County Council Donates Relief Funds for Turkey Earthquake Victims

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Hapcheon County Council in Gyeongnam announced on the 21st that it has donated 2 million won in relief funds to the Community Chest of Korea Gyeongnam Social Welfare Community Chest to support the victims of the T?rkiye-Syria earthquake.


On the 6th, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred in southern T?rkiye and northwestern Syria, and as of the 16th (local time), it is reported that more than 42,000 casualties have occurred. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to continue rising.

In response, the Hapcheon County Council urgently raised and delivered relief funds to support rapid disaster recovery and aid for the victims, concerned about the large scale of the earthquake damage and the prolonged period required for daily life to return to normal.


Chairman Jo Samsul said, “We deeply mourn the tragedy in T?rkiye, our brother country that helped us during the Korean War, as well as the surrounding countries.” He added, “There is no longer a safe zone from earthquakes. Hapcheon County Council joins in donation with one heart for the pain that any country can face, and we ask our residents to also offer warm comfort and support.”
