A is accused of driving under the influence on the night of the 18th in Amsa-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul, hitting a 50-year-old police officer B who was returning home from work, and fleeing the scene (charges include hit-and-run causing injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and DUI under the Road Traffic Act).
B was immediately taken to a hospital after the accident and is reported to have sustained serious injuries including broken ribs. The police analyzed nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and arrested A around 8 a.m. the same day near his residence. It was found that A's blood alcohol concentration at the time of the incident was above 0.03%, the level for license suspension.
