A Chinese man in his 50s sentenced to 12 years for son-in-law's murder appeals... Prosecutors also file an appeal

A man in his 50s of Chinese nationality, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing his son-in-law, has appealed the verdict. The prosecution also filed an appeal.

According to the court on the 20th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office submitted an appeal to the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Chief Judge Kim Byung-chul) on the same day. The prosecution appealed, citing the defendant's poor character, including his claims of not remembering the incident and blaming the deceased victim, as well as the risk of reoffending and unfair sentencing.

The Chinese national, Mr. A, is accused of killing his son-in-law, Mr. B, in his 30s, during a dispute over money at his residence in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, last August. It was investigated that Mr. A repeatedly refused Mr. B's demands for money, argued with him, stabbed him with a weapon, and then fled using a taxi from Seoul to Daegu and Pohang.
