[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] On the 20th, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City held the first full meeting of the Seo-gu Future Innovation Committee of this year at the Nanum Hall on the 3rd floor of the district office and decided to designate and operate an ‘Innovation Department’ to improve the working organizational culture method of the 8th elected administration.
According to Seo-gu on the 20th, the meeting was held to share discussion points from four subcommittees?administrative innovation, cultural economy, urban environment, and health and welfare?conducted last month, and to propose major policies.
The operation of an Innovation Department, which will lead the change in organizational culture as a representative policy task, was selected.
Seo-gu is currently operating four regional hub neighborhoods?Pungam-dong, Geumho 1-dong, Dongcheon-dong, and Chipyeong-dong?to realize a resident-centered village government, playing a leading role.
Accordingly, all committee members agreed on the necessity of an Innovation Department to proactively change the organizational culture within the district office, and ordered that the Innovation Department create an enjoyable and creative organizational culture through concentrated work, flexible work, and various training and benchmarking.
In addition, various proposals were adopted, including systematizing small business status data, establishing a carbon-neutral roadmap aligned with urban development directions, developing advanced models for nursing facilities, and mandating employee stress management programs.
The adopted proposals will be actively reflected in district administration through review by the responsible departments.
Kim Yi-gang, head of Seo-gu Office, said, “The starting point of innovation is to think about what to change for a better life for residents,” and added, “We will unite the capabilities of the Future Innovation Committee members representing all walks of life to realize a living government Seo-gu by my side.”
Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Future Innovation Committee (co-chairs Kim Yi-gang and Kim Jae-cheol) was formed last October with about 30 members, including private experts representing various fields such as economy, autonomy, welfare, education, women, culture, and youth, as well as Seo-gu council members and public officials.
The committee gathers opinions on the direction of district administration innovation and detailed implementation plans, proposes them, and also serves as a communication channel between the public and government to collect civic opinions and discover areas for improvement.
