[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is taking steps to revitalize future-oriented marine education by utilizing Igidae National Geopark.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and Nam-gu Office signed a business agreement in September last year to activate marine education using local marine resources through the "Activation of Education Linked to Igidae National Geopark."
According to this agreement, the Busan Office of Education developed an educational program utilizing the AR app "Dino Park," developed by Nam-gu Office.
Before the full-scale operation of this program, the Busan Office of Education will conduct a "Marine Education Training Linked to Igidae National Geopark AR App" to strengthen the marine education capabilities of elementary and secondary school teachers.
The training will be held on the 21st from 10 a.m. for 21 teachers, conducted in a non-face-to-face manner using the AR app teaching materials and through on-site experience at Igidae National Geopark. Lectures will be given by professors and teachers who participated in the development of the app and teaching materials.
The training will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The morning session will be held online using ZOOM. Professor Park Kyung-min from Pusan National University will provide guidance on how to use the "Dino Park" app and teaching materials.
In the afternoon session, Professor Park and Teacher Bae Hoon from Nakdong Elementary School will give lectures at Igidae National Geopark. Additionally, there will be guided experiential learning at Igidae and hands-on activities using "Dino Park."
After the teacher training, the Busan Office of Education plans to inform schools at all levels so that the program can be utilized in school marine education.
Han Jong-hwan, Director of Future Talent Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, "This training linked with Nam-gu Office will be a great opportunity for teachers to enhance their expertise in the marine field using local resources," and added, "We hope it will also greatly help activate experiential marine education for students."
