[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk is promoting the ‘Hometown Visit Support Project’ for marriage immigrants who have not been able to visit their hometowns for a long time due to economic difficulties.

According to the city on the 20th, this project is being promoted to provide marriage immigrants settled in Jeongeup with opportunities to visit their home countries and to help multicultural families settle stably in the local community.

The city plans to spend 142 million KRW on the project to support round-trip airfare, travel insurance fees, and round-trip transportation costs to and from the airport for marriage immigrant families.

This year, a total of 28 families will be supported, with up to 5 million KRW provided for a family of four.

Applicants must be marriage immigrant families who have lived in Jeongeup for more than two years and have not visited their hometowns in the past two years.

The selection criteria for beneficiaries include a comprehensive evaluation of family circumstances, number of visits to the home country, length of residence (marriage period), and number of children, with priority given to families with higher scores.

Applications can be submitted to the local eup/myeon office or dong community center by the 24th. Selected families can travel to their home countries from April to August.

For more details, contact the Family Support Team of the Women and Family Division of Jeongeup City or the local eup/myeon office or dong community center.

A city official said, “We hope that the hometown visit support will serve as an opportunity to help multicultural families understand different cultures,” and added, “We will continue to strive to help multicultural families settle stably in Korean society.”
