Sancheong-gun Holds Training Workshop on Landslide Prevention and Afforestation Projects

Implementation of Policy Explanation and Practical Training

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 20th that it held the ‘2023 Landslide Prevention Policy Explanation and Watershed Project Officer Workshop’ at the Hanbang Family Hotel within Donguibogam Village.

Hosted by the Korea Forest Service, this training was organized to strengthen the capabilities of watershed project practitioners nationwide. About 330 participants, including local government forestry officers and forestry-related personnel, attended the two-day training held on the 16th and 17th.

On the first day, practical education was provided on landslide prevention policies, landslide prevention and response, investigation, and restoration. On the second day, participants visited watershed facilities located in Hamyang-gun for an on-site tour.

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam held a policy briefing and staff workshop on landslide prevention.

At the opening ceremony held on the 16th before the training, County Governor Lee Seunghwa, Kim Inho, Landslide Prevention Division Chief of the Korea Forest Service, Shin Daeho, Head of the Western Regional Headquarters of Gyeongnam Province, and watershed project practitioners attended. They discussed development plans for forest conservation value and income improvement for forestry workers.

In his greeting, Governor Lee said, “Since 80% of Sancheong-gun’s area is covered by forests, forest conservation and utilization are important,” adding, “We will refrain from indiscriminate development and do our best to discover high value-added industries such as improving forestry income, as well as disaster prevention and national land preservation accordingly.”

Sancheong-gun showcased forest products produced locally, as well as Sancheong Yakju and Sancheong beer during the training.

They also introduced the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo, which will be held in the Donguibogam Village area on September 15, raising awareness of Sancheong-gun among the training participants gathered from across the country.
