Goheung-gun Signs Business Agreement with Yeosu Airport to Promote Tourism 활성화 업무협약 체결

Two Organizations Promise Joint Cooperation to Establish Commercialization Foundation for UAM Demonstration Flights

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Jeonnam Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Young-min) promised to jointly cooperate in creating a foundation for the commercialization of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) at Yeosu Airport and revitalizing local tourism linked with air traffic, following a technical and business strategy cooperation meeting with Korea Airports Corporation held on the 9th.

According to the county, on the 17th, an MOU was signed at Palyongsan Hall in the county office between Korea Airports Corporation Yeosu Airport (Airport Director Min Jong-ho) and Goheung-gun for UAM demonstration operation commercialization and air-linked Goheung tourism revitalization.

This agreement was made with the purpose of mutual cooperation to promote joint marketing of tourism products linked with air traffic, establish a foundation for UAM demonstration operation commercialization, and activate the airport.

At the signing ceremony, Goheung County Governor Gong Young-min and Korea Airports Corporation Yeosu Airport Director Min Jong-ho attended and signed the MOU.

The MOU includes key contents such as ▲promotion of tourism revitalization using the runway located in Goheung-gun ▲cooperation in establishing an Urban Air Mobility (UAM) foundation ▲sharing information related to new airport construction and seeking mutual development plans ▲joint development and promotion of tourism products linked with air traffic ▲joint marketing to attract domestic and international tourists ▲promotion marketing of Goheung-gun specialty products.

Meanwhile, the two organizations plan to strengthen cooperation by forming a working-level consultative body to specify the project details and achieve the mutually desired objectives based on the signed MOU.

Governor Gong Young-min said, “I hope that by jointly developing tourism products linked with Yeosu Airport and the future transportation means UAM, and promoting Goheung-gun’s promotional booths and specialty products, both organizations can achieve mutual growth. I expect this agreement to play a significant role in becoming a new starting point for Goheung tourism.”

Director Min Jong-ho of Yeosu Airport said, “We will actively cooperate to quickly establish UAM commercial infrastructure with the know-how and technology of Korea Airports Corporation, and strive to provide various incentives to help revitalize Goheung tourism through promotion of Goheung-gun’s unique regional tourism resources and specialty products.”
