Rule of Law Trampled by Prosecutor Yoon's Dictatorial Regime
"We Must Control Inflation Before Lee Jae-myung"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly opposed the prosecution's request for an arrest warrant against him on the 17th, stating, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration's atrocity is a judicial hunt disguised as the rule of law and a very brutal act that will be a stain on history."
At the party's Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that morning, Lee said, "Democracy and the rule of law have been mercilessly trampled by the blade of Yoon Seok-yeol's prosecutor dictatorship."
Referring to the old proverb "The axe handle rots without knowing it while playing the fresh game," he directly criticized, "The Yoon administration, which ruins people's livelihoods without realizing it in the game of power." He continued, "The Yoon Seok-yeol government should control prices first, not Lee Jae-myung," and launched an offensive, saying, "The lives of the people are full of pain. Prices continue to soar above 5%, household income is declining, and employment growth is steadily going downhill. Doesn't President Yoon hear the pain and sighs of the people?"
Lee said, "I hope the power used to fabricate cases to catch Lee Jae-myung and destroy the opposition party will first be used to stop the interest bomb or heating cost bomb," adding, "The fate of a regime that abuses power meant for the people to suppress political opponents is clear. The Yoon Seok-yeol administration must fear the people and history." He then emphasized again, "The Democratic Party will boldly confront the constitutional order destruction by the prosecutor dictatorship regime and restore the crumbling democracy and protect people's livelihoods."
Lee also evaluated the government's recent policy to ease living expenses, such as freezing public utility charges in the first half of the year, announced under President Yoon's directive, as "fortunate that they finally recognize the difficulties of people's livelihoods," but he dismissed it as nothing more than a shell game of bomb passing.
He said, "The budget scale of the government's announced measures is at most about 83 billion won, and how can such support revive people's livelihoods on the brink of life and death?" adding, "They spent tens of trillions of won on the super-rich, but is the real livelihood budget really that precious? They must stop the irresponsible idea of roughly appeasing public opinion with a temporary fix like urinating on a frozen pond."
