Daejeon Public Children's Rehabilitation Hospital, Final Inspection 'Opening Next Month'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The nation's first public pediatric rehabilitation hospital will open in Daejeon at the end of next month.

Daejeon City announced on the 17th that it held a status inspection meeting at the construction site of the public pediatric rehabilitation hospital with Chungnam National University Hospital.

Chungnam National University Hospital is in charge of preparing the construction as the entrusted operator of the public pediatric rehabilitation hospital.

The inspection meeting was held with the attendance of Min Dong-hee, Director of the Welfare Bureau of the city, and the head of the public pediatric rehabilitation hospital construction promotion team to check the status of construction completion, opening preparations, and medical staff recruitment.

The public pediatric rehabilitation hospital began construction in December 2020 and currently shows a progress rate of 93%.

The city expects to complete the construction by the end of this month, conduct trial operations, and officially operate the hospital from the end of next month.

Min Dong-hee, Director of the Welfare Bureau of the city, said, "We understand that parents of children with disabilities have high expectations for the opening of the nation's first public pediatric rehabilitation hospital," and added, "The city will do its utmost to manage the progress and prepare for operation aiming for the opening at the end of next month."

Meanwhile, the public pediatric rehabilitation hospital will be built in Gwanjeo-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon, with two basement floors and five above-ground floors (70 beds).

The hospital construction involves a total investment of 44.7 billion KRW, including 26.9 billion KRW from the city, 7.8 billion KRW from the national government, and 10 billion KRW in donations from the Nexon Foundation.

The city expects that once the hospital opens, about 6,000 children with disabilities in the Chungcheong region will be able to use the hospital facilities.
