The graduates consist of 1,821 police constables recruited through open competitive exams, and 107 experienced officers recruited in 10 fields including police administration, tax accounting, martial arts, shooting, security investigation, and law, totaling 1,928 individuals (1,256 men and 672 women). Since June of last year, they have completed eight months of training covering legal subjects necessary for law enforcement such as criminal law, as well as practical training required in the field such as shooting and arrest techniques.
The President's Award, given to the top overall performer, was awarded to Police Constable Jeon Miri (28, female). Police Constable Yang Seokju (26, male), who ranked second overall, received the Prime Minister's Award, and Police Constable Yoo Heeseong (30, male), who ranked third, received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award. Including them, the graduates will be assigned to police agencies across various cities and provinces nationwide to undertake public security duties.
The graduation ceremony held the previous day at the Central Police Academy's main stadium in Suanbo-myeon, Chungju-si, Chungbuk Province, was attended by Kim Hocheol, Chairman of the National Police Commission, Jo Jiho, Deputy Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Jo Gilhyung, Mayor of Chungju City, who encouraged the new officers.
