[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Ham Jin-gyu, the new president of Korea Expressway Corporation, stated on the 16th, "We will promote performance-oriented management efficiency and create an organization that remains unwavering in any situation, becoming a world-class road traffic service company.

At the inauguration ceremony held at the Gimcheon headquarters, President Ham said, "Our goal is the completion of a sustainable 'Hundred-Year Expressway' that enhances public safety and convenience."

He emphasized prioritizing public safety as the highest value and conducting an in-depth diagnosis of major accident types to establish effective countermeasures. He added, "With the determination to start again from the basics, proactively improve road facilities vulnerable to accidents, and enhance on-site safety through smart construction management utilizing advanced technology."

There is also a plan to build a mobility innovation expressway to create new growth engines. President Ham said, "We will establish a foundation for the commercialization of autonomous cooperative driving and increase the field applicability of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI)." He continued, "In particular, we will take the lead in national strategic projects such as expressway undergrounding and complex transfer centers, and activate overseas market development through public-private cooperation."

Efforts will also be made to increase public satisfaction with highway rest areas, expand infrastructure for eco-friendly vehicles, and create quality jobs through support for small and medium-sized enterprises. President Ham also requested active support and dedication from executives and employees, stating, "We will lead organizational reform to ensure work is fair and transparent and respond strictly to corruption." At the same time, he paid tribute to those who have turned crises into opportunities.

President Ham was appointed as the 19th president of Korea Expressway Corporation on the 14th, following approval by President Yoon Seok-yeol. His term is three years, until February 13, 2026.
