As endemic (periodic outbreaks of infectious diseases) leads to the full resumption of domestic and international travel, travel-related products are gaining popularity.


According to Galleria Department Store on the 16th, an analysis of sales from major carrier brands such as Rimowa, Tumi, and Samsonite from August last year to January this year showed a 36% increase compared to the same period last year. During the same period, sales of swimwear brands Barrel, Arena, and Boardriders also surged by 130%. Not only in offline stores but also on Galleria's online mall, sales of travel goods such as carriers and swimming-related products grew by 22%.


Domestic travel demand has also noticeably increased. According to Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, which operates resorts nationwide, the resort occupancy rate from August last year to January this year increased by an average of more than 11% compared to the same period last year. In particular, occupancy rates rose overall, including a 25% increase at Yongin Bezanson, 23% at Haeundae, 18% at Sanjeong Lake Ansi, and 17% at Seorak Sorano.


In line with this trend, Galleria is newly launching travel carrier pop-up stores and swimwear select shops at the Seoul Luxury Hall and Daejeon Timeworld. At Galleria Luxury Hall, the Italian luxury carrier brand 'FPM (Fabbrica Palletterie Milano)' pop-up will be operated until the 28th of this month. Founded in Milan in 1946, FPM is known for its exquisite design and durability, crafted through traditional handwork using premium aluminum and Italian leather. Recently, it attracted attention by collaborating with luxury brand Gucci, applying Gucci's signature GG canvas to FPM carriers. Prices range from 1 million to 4 million KRW.


At Daejeon Timeworld, the swimwear select shop 'Multiple' was newly opened on the 10th. The store features brands such as the American California brand 'Joline', Australian swimwear brand 'Seafolly', and indoor swimwear brand 'Speedo'. To celebrate the new opening, a promotion offering various gifts such as swim caps and wrap skirts is being held until March 9th with product purchases.


On Galleria's online mall, a Samsonite special exhibition will be held from the 20th to the 26th, offering a 20% discount on popular backpacks and briefcases.


A Galleria representative said, "As travel demand increases due to the endemic, sales of related products are on the rise," adding, "We plan to continue introducing various travel and leisure products."
