Ministry of the Interior and Safety Selected as Best Local Government Innovation Institution in 2022

Incheon, Cheonan-si, Ulju-gun, Gwangju Buk-gu Selected

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Incheon Metropolitan City, Cheonan City in Chungnam, Ulju County in Ulsan, and Buk-gu in Gwangju were selected as the best institutions for the ‘2022 Local Government Innovation’.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 16th that it conducted the ‘2022 Local Government Innovation Evaluation’ targeting 243 local governments and selected 61 local governments as excellent institutions.

The ‘2022 Local Government Innovation Evaluation’ assessed ▲institutional autonomous innovation, ▲innovation performance, and ▲innovation diffusion and public perception, and was conducted for 17 metropolitan local governments, 75 cities, 82 counties, and 69 districts.

Incheon Metropolitan City, selected as the best metropolitan local government, introduced the ‘119 Eum Call Dispatch Information Notifier Service,’ which displays the caller information of fire service calls on the caller’s mobile phone.

As a result of this evaluation, local governments selected as excellent institutions are awarded various benefits such as commendations from the President, Prime Minister, and Minister of the Interior and Safety, as well as special grants.

Jung Seonyong, Director of the Government Innovation Organization Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “The role of local governments is very important for government innovation efforts and achievements to directly reach the daily lives of the people,” adding, “The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will actively support local governments to continuously innovate in line with the whole-of-government innovation direction, and through this, strive to improve the quality of life of residents.”
